I have never seen this before in the past 6 - 7 years of reefkeeping. My wife was looking at the tank after lights out with her flashlight and saw two emeralds near each other. She said they were acting wierd so I took a look and they were releasing babies! I had no clue they were live bearere as well so I watched the little ones swimming around in the current. Such a cool sight to see. Here's a pic, best I could get with my camera :(

Yeah they will breed,
If there happy it will happen every few weeks.
If I am up and catch it I turn off my power heads to let them settle and not be fish food

I will surely be stopping the flow if I catch this again to see if some survive. I was figuring the fish got a feast last night. Never knew an emerald crab had an opening that large on it's belly...

So if they were allowed to settle, what would you suppose is the survival rate for them since they are scavengers? Should I try get some phyto and add it to the tank for them?

My emerald crabs just did that a week or 2 ago. I saw the female with the eggs but never saw her actually release them, but she isnt carrying them anymore.

That's cool I posted a couple videos a few months ago mine where spawning every couple weeks I lost the male I haven't seen him for like a month and since then the spawning stopped

Wow amazing!!! I am willing to bet it will be consistent which means a great food source for your inhabitants ;)
