This may be a dumb question, but did you actually see your emerald crab do that?

I've had emerald crabs for 4 years in an LPS/SPS tank. I have never had any coral issues with them.

I had an emerald crab in a tank that started eating one particular SPS. Couldn't figure out what was causing it until I saw it in the middle of the night. Removed the emerald and coral healed back up. Have an emerald in another tank for 6 months and it doesn't mess with any corals in there.

No i havent but it is the only thing that has changed. So i was making an assumption. There is one particular crab that i see at night hanging around it. I have a way to separate it so i can watch it and see if it gets worse.

I've had an emerald crab destroy a chalice of mine and then move on to tearing apart a colony of green eyes monsters...caught him red handed both times... finally was able to catch him and remove, and have had no issues since

Yeah he was a pain to catch , so get him when you can

Those little jokers are great at eating algae, but be careful if you don't have any. Mine never ate or physically damaged any coral, but when he ran out of algae to eat, he constantly (along with all of my hermits) would steal any food I tried to feed the coral. I ended up getting some algae wagers and putting one in the tank every 2 or 3 days to keep them fed.

I usually throw a piece of seaweed in daily to give them something to tear up. My two attack it every time.
