Emerald maybe... with what?

Went to a LFS 3 emerald crabs for $26, came home and this one looks differant so I have him separated, so I guess 2 questions
1 is he even an emerald crab
2 what is the tan / white stuff - - kinda worried it might be Aiptasia

Also agree it is a mithrax, can you pop it in the sump and see what happens once the crab molts.
Also no idea what it is.
 
My emerald crab disappeared for months. then I started seeing him regularly for a week, but I wasn't sure if was the same crab because he looked like your pic. Much whiter and fuzzier than he had been i found him dead soon after
 
I would keep him in a bucket by himself and feed it a LOT of algae! It will probably molt pretty quick and then you could put it in.

My guess is that it is sponge since it keeps its shape out of water, probably harmless. But I do like to quarantine my inverts before I put them in my display.

Agree that it's from the Mithrax family and could be an Emerald.

I'm thinking from the paler color on top and the fuzzy side, that it may be in the molting stage.

I would put it in a sump too.
