I've had three emerald crabs die in quarantine. What am I doing wrong?
The first one lasted a couple weeks in a tank that might have had copper issues and might have had ammonia issues.
Now I have a new quarantine tank with all new equipment and a Sea Chem ammonia alert. Three hermits, nine snails and numerous frags all seem to be doing fine. The first of two emerald crabs died in about a week. The second one lasted about 3 weeks.
One of them got dropped at the lfs. I heard him smack something and should have bought him. I figured that was the first one that died in about a week, but now I have no idea.
They never moved around much but had gone from one place to another from time to time. I'm thinking he might have starved, but I fed crab pellets and algae discs and there was a rock with green hair algae on it, which he never touched.
Does anyone else quarantine emerald crabs? How do they do? What do you feed them in QT? What else could it be?
