Are emerald crabs supposed to shed shell? I think one of mine has. I've always kept them but never experienced this. Is it bad or good?

Yes, they are like an insect. In order to get bigger the exoskeleton must be shed. This is a stressful time for them. I would leave them alone and hands out of the tank. They are also very vulnerable for a period after shedding, their skeleton must harden. Hope that helps.
