Emergency advice needed

I would say that they will not offer any compensation other than fixing it. I am expect they would say you should have more carefully inspected it prior to acceptance or pickup.

If you can't proove that it was like that when you got it, i.e. you didn't cause it yourself I don't think you can expect much in the way of compensation. Unless people feel that it is impossible that you did this yourself by accident.

I helped mike today and seen the chip myself and you can tell it was built with this chip as the silicon bead runs right over it. I also seen the tank before it was setup and i didn't notice the damage. There were 20 or so people who also inspected this tank prior to its setup and didn't notice the defect either.

let me know if you need anymore help mike.

The builder and I have had many conversations today..... He is a stand up guy and builds one heck of an awesome product, that's why there has been no names mentioned. As we discussed the activities that I have gone through he offered up some nice compensation on his own free will. He and I realize that his company, me or my helpers moving the tank chipped it. Its Huge Heavy and things happen with tanks this big, we are talking huge loads on glass at this size. I have no issues with the builder and will buy more tanks from him in the future.

If you know who built my tank keep it to yourself and don't bad mouth his work (hasn't happened at this time) because it is better then most I have seen.

Thank you all for the support and help, many people have lost a day of their normal life to help a man with a tank problem. I am truly appreciative of this and will be indebted to some, others I have collected form.......

Here are a couple of pics

I would officially say that he went above and beyond, glad to know that people still take care of their customers. Make sure you give the silicone time to dry before you refill it.

They will be out wendnesday to replace the glass. I plan on giving the silicone at least 5 days to cure, I will ask when they fix it.

Glad to hear everything worked out! After going through a tidal wave, I am totally gun shy when it comes to glass.

Sounds like its going to work out.. As far as saying who built the tank I don't really think it matters.. You said your self the defect was very hard to spot in the finished tank. So they could have overlooked it as easily as you did. Now the guy that siliconed that seam should have seen it. I for one don't black list a company because of one employee making a mistake. As long the owner makes it right its not really a black mark on his record. If it leaks again then maybe, But if thats the case then telling people who the MFG is, is a good thing..

Let us know how it goes. No telling 100% when it happened but even if during the build that is a big tank and may have not fully broke until it was stressed it may have been a hairline crack and when it was filled the crack was stressed and caused your problem. The judge of a good company is not that their product is 100% flawless 100% of the time but that if it is not they will stand behind it. Which in this case they are, so thumbs up to them and hopefully things will work out for you.
