He stopped eating, is lethargic, sometimes flashing, pretty hard breathing sometimes like he’s choking, can’t see anything on him however. There is a snowflake eel in the tank that is thriving and I think he has the best chance to make it so I’m trying to make sure he survives. I’ll send pics of my parameters here.In other words - a picture of the grouper under white light and the symptoms would be much more valuable than the pictures above (as well as symptoms, your parameters, etc)

I think PH is a little low but maybe ammonia is also a little high not too sure.

Can I add the air stones to the sump or should I add it to the main tank. I don’t want the lid to be open to the slightest for the eel to escape. That low pH is a concern. Probably not the main issue, but part of the problem. Does the tank have strong aeration (not just circulation, but bubbles actually breaking the surface)? If not, get some air stones going and see if the pH rises overnight.

The lid is a custom made acrylic lid the light sits on top to contain it their is a power head in there and the wire does slide out of the lid so I could do that as well with the air pump. That's an issue - is the lid solid? That may be hindering proper gas exchange also. Is there now way to slide an airline into the tank through the lid? Air in the sump may not help much, and if the air gets sucked into your return pump, it can actually cause nitrogen supersaturation due to the pump's pressure.
