Hi ya'll,

Own a 30g nano tank with a skimmer and a phosphate bag in a canister filter.

Water levels are fine just checked salinity just a hairline above 1.025

Had it running for 8 months now and had my six line wrasse in there for about seven. Tonight just before bed I caught it jumping out, I put it back in the tank but it seems to be very weak and swimming around lazily, disappeared in between rocks and is now somewhere I can't see.

All other live stock such as cleaner shrimps and blood Shrimp and clownfish look normal.

Any thoughts as to if the six line is dying? I will have to check tomorrow morning before work as I have my shift starting in about 5 hours and I need some sleep.

Thank you for any help or sharing of experiences.

Also might be good to add that just a few hours before lights out they all ate just fine and swam around like nothing was wrong and still at this moment does not have anything noticeable on the outside

Might have bumped his head when he landed. Only time will tell. Just make sure it can't get sucked into a power head

More inlikely in shock from sudden change in temperature, lack of water, could have swallowed some air might take awhile for him to get back to normal. Unfortunately in saltwater I lack experience. I had freshwater fish do this and be ok but they are a bit more hardy to sudden temp changes. I cannot say for sure if he'll be ok.

Well that's one for the books for me. Julie the wrasse is doing fine and swimming around chasing dust in the tank having a blast

And blennies too
I've actually heard of some deep water species breaking their necks when they hit the lid :(

You could make a mesh cover for the tank to keep the fish from jumping. Hope he's ok!

Good to read that Julie made through carpet surfing;)

What type of mesh would be good? Also would a mesh take a big toll on lighting?

BRS just recently posted a video on mesh tops using their kits (the kits are the same from anyone). Using a par meter the tested an open top, 1/8, & 1/4 screen. There was no significant light blockage. I use a 1/4 screen on my tank with no issues

Great to know! Gonna try to design one today. I've only seen mesh for like sliding doors to keep bugs out, and I feel they might rust. Is there a brand name I could try to find?
