Welcome to Reef2Reef, Karen!

The dark half-moon at the rear of her belly indicates that yes, you've got baby swordtails on the way!

(Though this is really a saltwater forum, most of us have probably kept freshwater fish as well...)

Their bellies usually get that squared look when birth is imminent, I expect you will have fry soon :D.

Also, the dark area at the back of the belly, but before the tail is an indication that she is gravid and nearing the time to give birth.

Also, most female live-bearers store sperm, so can have successive pregnancies even without being introduced to a male again.

You where right!! There is about 70 or more baby fish hiding in a castle! The male keeps following her around which is cute, thanks for all your help!

If you want to keep them, separate the fry from parents or they will be quickly eaten. But not to worry - another batch in 4 - 6 six weeks is normal for a healthy female.

Okay I'll put them in there own 20 gallon tank! (I have one up and running, water has been tested perfect for the fry!) So happy, there so small, it's so cute!!

Mollies and guppies are the same way. Add those to your tank and you'll have a little baby factory. Lots of fun.

I'm so happy excited! I've recently had a pregnant molly in my 90 gallon tank! The baby's are gorgeous! I do have guppies ( only males) I need to get some females [emoji23] [emoji23]

How can you not love tank babies?

He's following to try and catch some last minute morsels. It's not uncommon for males and even other females to follow one giving birth so they can eat the fry. Rather brutal world fish live in.
