Hello,

I have a puffer thats not very active after being in new tank, will not eat, not even slightly intrested in food.

Tried squid, live grass shrip, shrip, clams, krill.

Then tried with garlic... no luck.

Breathing seems moderate. Fish will swim but only to bite at the glass. Then will lay on the bottom or on a rock.

-What is age of tank?
-Are you using RODI water or tap water from faucet?

-what test kits are you using?
-Try adding 1/2 dozen live guppies (do this as a one time thing)
-Increase oxygen with use of an air stone and pump.

Tank setup is 30days old. Rock is years old. Cycled with fritz and stability and live rock. Puffer was added 30days later.

200 gallon with 55 sump.

Sailfret kits used same as my reef. Water RO

A new addition not eating is many times internal parasites. Treatment with general cure in the water column usually brings their appetite around within a day or two if that's what it is, the lethargy is also an indicator. As you were doing offering live grass shrimp is a good option for a new puffer. Don't wait to treat a fish not eating for internal parasites, there is a point of no return. This is the 1st place I would start.

General cure in water column? What do i do about loosing bacteria?

Fresh water dip last might, looked like a bunch of sand droooed off? He was very active in the tub. Added him back to the tank, he got extremely mad. Then alot of white string poop came out.

Day 6 without eating.

Im still looking at potential ich maybe or hope not velvet.

Paraguard with fresh dip in a mins. Fresh water dipping every 12hrs

Does paraguard help in terms of parasites

There is a specific disease forum, if that is what you mean.

API is prazi and metro, 2 meds for worms/flukes. It shouldn't do anything to your beneficial bacteria.

Stuff dropping off during a dip and the white stringy poop are parasitic worm/fluke indicators. The general cure is a good start.

Bump for some disease help.

Sounds like the fish is brand new. Are its eyes pretty cloudy?

@Jay Hemdal (sorry, I know you get bothered a lot). @lion king

His eyes are not cloudy either. So far, chillin at the bottom, not eating, and i think possible ich maybe but then again after freshwater dip alot just was at the bottom looks to be sand.

Hes active at night, as when i check on him hes in a different spot in the tank.

In addition, im going to do a paraguard dip in freshwater for 5 mins today.

If i add general cure in the tank, will this crash it? Do i need to supplement bacteria.

Also what about parazi (spelling) if hes nit eating, will a dip in it work on kill internal parasites?

Copy, so then add general cure into the system then?

During dip for 5mins in paraguard in freshwater.

Guys gets extremely ticked when introduced back into his tank.

But moves around.

This tank is just his, i can rip out rock and treat.

He has his own tank. But im guessing ill need to push meds daily for awhile
Also can i mix general cure with paraguard.

Im reluctant to push certain meds because i hear puffers are sensitive, is this even a concern or i should be okay?
