emergency QT set up for ich

well i noticed today that my blue tang has white specs all over him and am assuming that he has ich. i want to get him out of my tank as soon as possible as i dont notice any other of my fish having it and all are very healthy and eating great. he is about 2 inches so he is not that big. i just ordered garlic for the food and immune booster. i dont have a QT right now but i want to get one set up. i was thinking about a 20 gallon since he isnt big at all. i do have a 55 gallon that i could use and transfer all my fish to it and get rid of ich totally. but my question is what would i do for filters since i dont have any hang ons that have established bio-load and copper treating is out of the question because its a reef tank.

do you have any sort of media or sponge in your sump that you could put in the HOB filter for the bacteria? its always good to have a sponge filter or something running in your sump to set up a quick QT. i dont know that much about tangs but i have read that they are very susceptable to contracting ich. you could try soaking your current food in water with some fresh pureed garlic before the stuff you ordered comes in.good luck i hope the tang sheds the ich

alright im going to try to find a uv sterolizer just to help in the long run and i will do that
