Emergency QT setup ??

Does a QT have to be running and cycled or can it be set up on an as needed emergency or new fish additions.
What is the proper procedure??

It can be setup on an "as needed" basis. The best way to do this is to keep a seeded sponge or two in your DT's sump.

+1. if you are removing fish from a DT make sure your params match. specifically, temp., SG, and PH.

Use new water or water form the display??

depends....you could use water from the display, for the initial setup. but you will need fresh salt water available to do WCs on the QT, if it isnt an established system. unless you plan on taking water form the DT to fill the QT and add new water to the DT. sounds like more work than its worth.

if you use new water and not from the DT, then make sure your big 3(SG, PH, Temp) params match up.
