Hello,

I have a coral beauty angel that I have not seen eat in roughly 2 weeks. I assumed he was eating since he is still alive. But I observed for a long time after feeding and did not see him eat. At first I figured he wasn't liking the copper, but now I am getting worried.

He has no visible spots or symptoms, but has been struggling with some minor fin rot for a few months. Please see details of my QT Below.

After a uronema outbreak in my main tank, I have QT'd the fish. Here is where I am currently.

20 Gallon QT/HOB Filter/PVC Hideouts. Temperature roughly 84 degrees to shorten cycles of parasites.

Day 1-2 Capfuls Metro In Tank
Day 2-2 Capfuls of Metro + 35 Drops Cupramine + 3 Gallon WC
Day 3-2 Capfuls of Metro + 3 Gallon WC
Day 4-2 Capfuls of Metro + 35 Drops Cupramine + 3 Gallon WC
Day 5-2 Capfuls of Metro + 3 Gallon WC
Day 6-2 Capfuls of Metro + 3 Gallon WC
Day 7-2 Capfuls of Metro + 3 Gallon WC
Day 8-40 Drops Cupramine
Day 10-40 Drops Cupramine + 3 Gallon WC
Day 15-40 Drops Curpramine + 5 Gallon WC

It is now day 16 and I cannot say I have seen him eat since the first day.

I am waiting for my Hanna Copper Checker, so I do not know what my copper level is at quite yet. Based on my water changes and copper input, it should be in a normal therapeutic range.

How should I proceed? He is rubbing himself on the PVC like he is itching. This made me think ich, but there are no symptoms on him or any other fish.

First raising the temp doesn’t really have much of an impact on parasites and it lowers O2 content in the water.
Why did you start copper? I ask because starting copper without a way to determine levels is dangerous to your fish.
I see you have noted you had a Uronema outbreak but only ran Metro for 7 days. Uronema treatment should be metro in the water column and fed for 14 days or until symptoms disappear.
Have you done a FW dip to check for flukes as a possible reason for the flashing?
If your copper is too high that could explain why he is not eating.

Hmm, I must have misunderstood the dosing on metro, or at maybe mixed it up with the feeding. I did it for 7 days but I plan on having the fish in QT for awhile, so after 4 weeks of copper I guess I will do 14 days of metro in water and in food before I move on to prazi and general cure.

I thought raising temp helped speed up the lifecycle of ich (if that is the problem) so it dropped off the fish faster.

I have not done a freshwater dip on this particular fish, I did it on some others but I will try that.

To develop a qt for this fish help me understand the issues he’s facing. First was a confirmed Uronema exposure? Secondly is flashing? Third no appetite?

Sorry for any confusion.

Uronema Exposure. Minor Fin Rot. Flashing Randomly, Not Often. Haven't seen him eat in about 2 weeks. He doesn't look bad though, so he has to be eating some of the food that sits at the bare bottom tank until I vacuum right?
