Salinity is at 1.033-1.035 checked with 2 calibrated refractometers and need to drop it to 1.025-26. Can someone help me figure out how much salt to use its going to be a 50% water change on a 20 gallon. On pain meds for a slipped disk so me and math aren't buddies right now.

Why not just slowly remove saltwater and replace with RO/DI freshwater?

Nitrates also over 100-160ppm with home api test, both fish store's api test and a hanna checker. I've done massive water changes with no negative effects and this is store water I don't have an rodi yet landlord's being anal. Ive already lost a 3 headed hammer trying to minimize zoa deaths too.

Gotchya...Then in that case you'll want to do some low salinity changes, probably around 1.020 until you bring the level down to 1.026 where you want it.

If you want to reduce in four .0025 increments:
1. Remove 10 G and then add 10 G @ 1.029 sg
In order to reach 1.0315 sg.
2. Remove 10 G and then add 10 G @ 1.0265 sg
In order to reach 1.029 sg.
3. Remove 10 G and then add 10 G @ 1.0239 sg
In order to reach 1.0265 sg.
4. Remove 10 G and then add 10 G @ 1.0236 sg
In order to reach 1.025 sg.
If you want to reduce in two .005 increments:
1. Remove 10 G and then add 10 G @ 1.0239 sg

What is your landlords concern with an RO/DI? Most cities charge you $1-2 per 1000gallons. You would have to be making 250-350gallons of RO/DI per month for him to even notice a change in the water usage. I'm glad you resolved your salinity issues though.
