I think your plan sounds doable but I'd be hesitant to add in the sand to the holding tank. I'd probably try and keep the sand in a separate container. Sand can hold a lot of gunk so if you transfer it from your tank to the holding tank it could add a lot of detritrus and stuff to the holding tank - would you be able to set aside a little bit (to seed) and rinse the sand really well before adding to the holding tank? You can give yourself some time and avoid that step if you keep it in a different container.

I need to clarify - you can save that step for right now because I'd still advise to rinse the sand well before adding back to the main tank.

Alright guys so I moved everything but the live sand and 80 lbs of live rock to my holding tank im running a mr1 with gfo also hob with 2 carbon filters my protein skimmer so far so good and to be honest I like my holding tank more than my dt lol

I was rescently in san antonio and my wife took it upon herself to buy a used 48" power compact light fixture with 4 pc bulbs for 40 bucks I was iffy about it but she suprised me with some fire and ice zoas sweet ..what do you guys think about the pc's
