I have been gone a week on vacation and came back to my tunze ato pump froze up and didn’t fill the tank with water for the whole week the water level in the sump dropped to half an inch and ruined my vertex skimmer pump. Somehow the Skimz return pump is fine and all the heater are fine. My tank is at 72 degrees according to apex and it’s usually at 78 should I throw all my heaters in the sump and try to raise the temp quickly or should I slowly run the temp up it was at 75 degrees but after adding the rodi water to the sump the temp dropped quickly.

Slow is always better. Adding R/O fast will cause the salinity to swing, which is stress enough! Sorry, I hate vacations because of things like this, but I hope you had a good time while you were away>

Go slow and raise the temp over the next few days and lower salinity slowly as well

I know this doesn’t help now but you mentioned you have an APEX. Should have been a red flag that that temp was dropping like that. Make sure you add alerts for things such as temp and also a low and high water sensor in your sump ASAP. These will help you when on vacation.

Fish will be fine at 72.. just put 1 heater in and let go up slow...

Shoupd note adding fresh water to change the salinity wont hurt the fish either... its RAISING salinity too quickly that will hurt them.

For example hyposalinity for ich.. fish can litterally be tossed in hypo at 1.009 with no aclimation.. but if you raise it by just 4 points it could stress them out..

Id just fill the tank back up and get the salinity back to normal... honesrly id be more worried about keeping them in high salinity then dropping it suddenly

You may gradually add warm water to your sump, and then let the heater take over
