Emerror angel eating coral

My emperor adult started eating coral. Ughhhhh. I tried to feed more but I guess will have to sell or trade.

Chalice and zoas. My Calc was a little high so one of the chalice looked a little ruff so he went after.

yup emperor angels will go after zoa, mushrooms, chalice, acans, meat corals, scoly, etc pretty readily. Great in larger tanks with lots of corals where it wont pick on one in particular and also are fed a lot. Very pretty fish though

He is in a 200g. He is about 5-6 inches now.

Depends on how often you’re currently feeding

Try varying the diet more too, feed atleast 3 different types of food throughout the day or week. Clam on a half shell, squid, mysis shrimp etc are awesome

Mine is limiting himself to nuisance zoas/palys right now (he gets fed a lot, but apparently still has a healthy appetite and a lot of time on his fins).

Are you able to just avoid the coral he nips at and trade on the coral?
I personally do this however with my angels and other RSWC fish, it’s often them over the coral (hence why my 4’ tank is a limited mixed reef).

No I have a huge colonie of chalice and other corals that potentially he will eat. So I will trade him in even though I like the fish.

Im having a similar problem with my emperor. Hes changing from his juvenile colors and he is starting to bully all fish .. I am not sure if hes picking on acros yet

Im having a similar problem with my emperor. Hes changing from his juvenile colors and he is starting to bully all fish .. I am not sure if hes picking on acros yet

Mine was same way. any fish I added he would ram them. When he went from juv to male. Then he will corals. He literally ate over 500$ worth of corals in 30min. So he was gone next day.
