Emilie's "pink tank" for the Nano in 90 competition.

My daughter Emilie recently told me that she would like to have a reef aquarium in her bedroom. I had everything but the sand and tank so I said why not. We piled in the truck and off to Petco it was. She decided on a All Glass Aquarium 20g long tank. I asked her what color she wanted the back painted, blue or black? She said "pink", so pink it is!

Getting ready for paint.

And yes she even painted it! She refused to smile for the camera though.

The tank is currently set up and cycling with about 20lbs of dry rock. I had a 2 bulb T5 light, plug in light timer, Stealth 50w heater, and an old Koralia knock off power head that I'm using on this tank.

I'm not sure which direction this tank will be going "most likely zoa's and softys", Emilie has already been trying to go shopping in my DT.....

I'll get some more pic's of the tank and my chosen aquascaping in the next few days.

So here is what I have figured towards the cap so far:

Hammer and Frogspawn = $80
Green leather = $20
Ricordea = $20
Fuzzy Shroom = $10
RBTA = $50
Zoa frag, I'm gonna say 20 polyps at $2 ea = $40
Zoa frag "supposed Cherry Charms" = $20
AquaSD "Ebay order" = $25.00

For a total of $265 of the allotted $500.

That's awesome Chris! I never have seen a pink back aquarium. That's great she is interested in the hobby. What a nice father daughter bonding project! :)

oooo! Are you going to do pink and girly colored corals and fish? That would be cute! :)

Thanks Kim!

This is actually just what we may have needed lately, her mother and I divorced a few months ago so things have been strained for sure when it comes to our relationship.

That's awesome bro! I love that this project is between you and your daughter.

Sorry to hear about that Chris but glad to see you are making the best of it with your daughter.

This looks like its gonna be a great build bro. I'm looking forward to the day when my lil girl is ready to join the dark side. Lol

LOL you wouldn't believe how much stress Emilie has given me over my current tank, I was actually extremely shocked when she told me she wanted one too. Her mother hated my tank so she was following moms lead for a while there.

That is great that your daughter has taken an interest in the hobby and that you two will have something to bond over. Sounds like it will be a fun project for the two of you.

That's awesome Chris.

I am involving my 5 year old as well. He'll get to choose what fish to put in the Nano and well as help make other decisions.

Haha, it is totally up to her, I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a pink Maxima clam though!

Me too!!! Try to find 2 pink ones.

Looking forward to watching this tank grow
