Hi everyone .... been actively following R2R for a couple of years but this is first post.

I've read compatibility charts with regards to Large Angelfish but wanted to hear from hobbyists themselves ... I currently have an Emperor Angel and would potentially like to add another large angel to a 200+ gallon set-up. My eye wanders to the following: Regal - Blue - Queen - Blue Girdled - Watanabei - Bellus ... not all of course; just one.

Would love to hear your feedback and / or current status if housing more than 1 large angel ...

Thanks,

Todd

I have an emperor and blue girdled together. Emperor is the boss even though he was in the tank after the blue girdled but for the most part they get along. Light hearted chase by the emperor a few times a day.

The emperor will always be belligerent when added another large angel. Always recommend putting emperors in last. How large is the emperor? If he’s adult size or large adolescence starting to transition they will not take kindly to a large angel intro. At least that is my experience. Best bet if you must have that angel is to buy him smaller so that after sone tussling they will settle down and then can grow up together...good luck.

Juvenile ... roughly 4 inches ... no transitioning has taken place yet

As long as you have plenty of liverock for the new angel to hide you will be fine. You will have to QT / Isolate the new angel to make sure it is eating well before being harassed by the emp. If you look closely I was able to keep two juveniles. I had kept an adult and a small juvenile many years ago also.

I have a juvenile Emperor roughly 5" as well as a Regal. I feed frozen twice a day and an autofeeder 4x a day. The Emperor is the most belligerent in the tank, though only towards other larger fish, and he mostly stays within his own territory.

I have an emperor with my blue girdled and regal and a handful of dwarf angels they are all calm and get along perfectly but the blue girdled is the boss of not just the angels but my tank I would recommend a blue girdled the most.
