I went looking for a rubber band that I had drooped in the tank a couple of days ago and couldn’t find it. This morning I saw that the emperor angel had eaten it and was now passing it. Its all out now and I got it from the tank. He seems to be fine although there was a slight trace of blood on the rubber band. Should I do anything special to help him after a rough “stool” dump? Has anyone had this happen to them before? Never a dull moment in this hobby!

You're fish is lucky - Pomacanthus angels have died from eating rubberbands or silicone!

I can't think of any supportive case - as long as it passes all of the band and continues to feed normally.....

Never a dull moment indeed! I can’t say I planned on waking up to a story like THAT today! Lol.

So happy for your beautiful fish. :)
Yes it was quite a morning surprise but also a relief that it didn’t get stuck inside of him which could have spelled the end of one of my favs….

He’s his usual ornery self, ruling the tank with his “Queen” angel at his side! Eating and otherwise acting normal. Pretty confident it’s all out….

This just answered my questions if a emperor , queen and possibly a blue ring will get along in the same tank .

I’m debating switching from a reef to fish only

Emperor and Queen are pretty aggressive angels. In my case they prowl around together and chase everyone else but not each other. That can change of course as they get older. The Annularis or blue ring come from same family as emperor thus increasing chance they will fight. Ive never had them together in one tank. I do have a 625g FOWLR though so might work. In any event having 3 in same tank will be tricky but you can increase your chances of success by buying them small, having a big tank (the longer the better, 8’ w/b ideal) and putting them all in at the same time. I currently also have a Scribble (went in 3 months prior to emperor and queen) and 2 dwarf angels (flame and coral beauty) Good luck.
