Greetings all,

I am stocking my first LPS tank. I’ve predominately been an SPS guy...but figured I’d try something new. I learned the hard way, that I never should have introduced encrusting montipora in my SPS systems. It is just so hard to control/remove. So, trying to educate myself as I am looking at various LPS like favia/favites. Is there anything that will straight up become an issue, or need special consideration to control? I once put Hollywood Stunner in my SPS system and had a heck of a time removing it as it became invasive and aggressive. Since then I’ve been leary of chalices. As I’m unfamiliar, just trying to avoid the GSP/Xenia of the LPS world.

Thanks

And problem with stunner is that it breaks so easily
Monti, cyphastrea, lepto, chalice encrusts easily

War corals (favites), some chalices (not all), cyphastrea, and leptoseris are a few that come to mind that can be fast growing, but still nowhere near as fast as some soft corals. I think so long as you place them strategically and isolate the more aggressive growers, these corals can be managed.

lepastrea, turbinaria
Why not throw some zoas in
and "SPS" and "LPS" are fuzzy terms anyways, why not pick up some psammocora, leptoseris, cyphastrea, stylocoeniella, pachyseris
