I have some that died as it was shaded to much by another coral. Two heads of the shade providing coral died allowing light to come back to the monti. Now all of a sudden I’m seeing a bunch of polyps coming out of a dead coral. Are encrusting montis known to come back from the dead?

It probably wasn’t dead, just bleached out from lack of light. I’ve had it happen to me with monti caps and once they get light they start coming back :)

That’s crazy! I’m glad it came back but it went white and changed to the color of the surrounding rock. Then all of a sudden, it’s back.

Crazy how resilient coral can be! Monti Caps can look totally dead and then turn to something beautiful in no time.
