I am brand new to hobby. Went to my local frag swap this weekend and bought a bunch of frags, mostly softies, to start up my reef (after telling everyone I was a beginner!). I did pick up two encrusting montipora frags to wade into SPS.
From what I’ve read, I want medium light and medium flow. But what about substrate? I have reef saver dry rock, which is pretty rough and Swiss cheese “craggy.” Can an encrusting montipora flourish on that type of surface, or must I find smoother/flatter surfaces in the tank?
