Hi. I have a tropical fish tank and I am thoroughly enjoying my marine tank. I have completed the intial cycle and the 'clean-up' crew are doing their work. I have live rock and all the tests are in the range.

What do I do next in terms of adding further chemicals and test kits etc?

The tank is a 130L RedSea.

Thanks

ok as adding chemicals will be down the road wen ur tanks is fully stock but for now just a water change will be good. need to check for alk, cal,mg thats the most in important so ur corals can grow. as test test for phosphate and nitrite and for alk, cal,mg

Good advice given above. If you have tested for phosphates, ammonia, nitrates, nitrites and salinity and everything tests fine then you should be able to start adding you first fish

welcome to R2R. Just remember to add livetock slow and continue to test to make sure your tank stays stable.

Hi! I would just make sure to do 10-20% water changes weekly. Also, slowly add fish and corals to it if you are going that route. As far as chemicals go, I don't add anything to my tank other than microbacter (bacterial additive) once a week after water changes. I will also add 1 drop of Lugol's iodine a day if I remember (don't think it really helps much but it's a habit now). I wuold say as far as tests go, you need to have your basic test kits to test your water when you do water changes, especially since your tank is so new. I would get Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, Magnesium, Calcium, and Alkalinity test kits. These are your basic test kits you will need to make sure your levels are on target. It's best to test your own water too so you know that it's getting done properly and your LFS isn't lying to you so you buy things. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions here! :)
