There are plans well under way to build a giant biobank in Northern Queensland to house and protect endangered corals. If they get this done, it would be a fantastic place to visit and view some rare corals, as well as the overall conservation benefits. There are even rumours that they may encourage home reefers to give some of these corals a try; sort of like a seed bank for rare plants.
 
Oh that would be a great idea! Although, I would hope that it would gain traction with reefers even though the more endangered corals might look more "bleh".

There's a similar thing with (freshwater) fish. It's called the CARES program, although that's mostly aquarists already setting aside tanks for endangered/threatened freshwater species.
