Ending NOPOX, how long until nutrients climb?

Hello,

I stopped dosing NOPOX a week ago, and yet im still not seeing any color on my Salifert nitrate test. In general, how fast would you see nitrates start to rise after stopping NOPOX?

Depends on algae and coral load that is removing it for you.

It is hypothetically possible that your nutrient level will not rise for quite some time due to a healthy aerobic/anaerobic bacteria population from the carbon dosing and surface area you provided for the bacteria. You may be able to handle your tank with only minimal water changes when seen needed and regular dosing. Also agree with above comment that if you do have excess algae or a lot of coral it may be consuming your nitrates before showing up on your Salifert tests.

A week will definitely be beyond the time NOPOX is having a benefit.
