Thanks Big G, so does it look like popeye to you too? Should I stop the kanaplex? Finally apologies for asking as never done this before, any links I can use to get the correct USP Epsom salts?Couple of things you can try to help your goby. First you could dose the tank with plain USP epsom salts. It often works to decrease popeye swelling. 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of tank water. It will slightly raise your mag levels.
The next step would be to put the goby into a QT and dose with erythromycin. It is the best antibiotic for eye infections.
Yes, that's popeye, and a pretty bad case when it gets big and bubbly like that. Kanaplex is a great wide spectrum antibiotic and may help a bit, but erythromycin is the go to med for eye infections. Thanks Big G, so does it look like popeye to you too? Should I stop the kanaplex? Thanks for that, I was looking to get the API erythromycin, but then just read a thread that chemiclean is erythromycin based. Could I just use that as I do have a bit of a cyno problem. Just trying to work out how I would move the fish to qt as he stays behind the rocks. I have used chemiclean before so know what needs to be done with that in that tank. Amazon, markets, Walmart, etc. all sell epsom salts. Just make sure to the "plain" unscented no additives version.
