Saw this cool large engineer goby
I know they can dig through the sand bed. I have a 300 gallon tank mostly fish with nems and rock nems and some mushrooms so no coral to disrupt. Any thoughts? Pros/cons?

Personally I love them. Great personality fish with unique swim motion. They can move A LOT of sand around so keep an eye on any lower rock nems.

They will move a lot of sand around. if you have secure rock work, should be fine. I loved mine. Funny creatures come out more as they are adapted.

Mine is 14" and a model citizen. Hides a lot and rarely if ever digs

I would love to have one in my 220, but I don’t feel my 1” sand bed is enough! I even placed my rocks directly on the bottom and then filled with sand for this very reason, then decided on less sand.

Maybe some day

I LOVE my engineer. They’re super hardy and gorgeous fish. Unfortunately they spend most of their time in their little hidey hole. Also they’re not a fan of fingers near their hidey holes. Mine always acts like he’s going to bite me.
