Slapped some blue tape 18" apart on a 6 foot table to semi layout some rocks.

Thoughts on amount of rock for a 125G? Seems enough if ya ask me but my current tank is small just looking for some input.

Mixed Reef with a focus on corals over fish

Thanks!

100lbs or so?
roughly, maybe a little less that big tidal piece in the middle is really light weight. I also left the front on the sand bed open because i have some pieces in my smaller tank with coral on them already im going to transfer right in

The amount of rock in your display is entirely up to your preference. If you want a smaller amount, then add some biomedia to the sump. The reason for the "x pounds of rock per gallon" advice is to make sure there is enough surface area -both in aerobic and anaerobic spaces - to create a robust biofilter of bacteria and archaea.

Personally, even though I have a lot of rock, I threw a bottle of Matrix into a filter bag and plopped it in the sump. Useful for the tank in general, and a good way to seed any temporary setup i may need... I just take a small portion out and put it in the new tank's filter.

Is there enough hiding holes for the fish you desire? My first tank I just did a rock wall and the fish were happy... my 2nd.. I wanted to jump on the negative space bandwagon... had some aggression issues until I added more rockwork.

You'll eventually add to it as fish get introduced. Layout looks nice !

Question, did you paint that rock? Or is that just dust
Thats life rock - Its natural appearance

I worry about what I've been doing during the day and think twice before I put my hands in the tank LOL
