Enough with the live sales already

Dont mind the live sales but would like them to actually stock items that they are going to live sale so we can just buy the item we want when we want it.
It's crazy how you can be entirely out of stock and then have 1000 items the next day.

I don’t mind them either just kinda wish they gave you a minute or 2 to check out. Considering people with faster internet/computers have a way better advantage. But like said it is what it is.

From a business standpoint, it's a fantastic concept. They make way more money with live sales then with regular sales. I don't personally enjoy them, nor do I participate in them anymore, but there is no denying they function similar to gambling. Most people spend more than they intended to, however the knowledge that you got a $50 dollar frag for $10 makes the $600 you spend seem worth it :)

It definitely is like gambling and it uses people's physiology against them. I don't like the gimmick. We will buy stuff without the gimmick. Just lately it feels like there is one every week. When it was once every few months you could at least prepare for the mental onslaught. Now it's just being hammered. Not one of my favorite things about the hobby that's for sure.

After a couple hours of refreshing during the last live sale, I went to my local store instead. I got 3 really nice frags for about the same as the "sale" price. The only thing I lost out on was the made up names. Instead of a "Gobsmacking Miami Bench Vice", they called it "I think that one's a favia?" ;)

Well look at the shear amount of vendors these days. Rehvtree stated explicitly just today, that r2r is a for profit business and vendors put money in his wallet for his family. Live sales bring traffic, and more money for the vendor and r2r.

Business is business and business is good apparently.

Just like gambling, it brings in a select group to spend more money, perhaps more than they intended which is good for their business. I don't participate, would rather have more than 5 seconds to decide.

In a flash sale, I don't have time to question what the difference between "golden roses" and eagle eyes are. All I know is they're normally 20pp and now I can get a frag of 4 for 20 ;) Those "emerald dreams" aren't green palys- they're certainly super rare!

Apparently, I'm bad for business!

I'm in the same boat! I do not, and don't suspect that I ever will, participate in the live sales. I understand why vendors do them, But when I'm making purchases for my tank, I want to have the time to consider where the piece will go, how will it look, what are it's needs, etc. I have been putting different corals, and goods, in my shopping cars on various sites for weeks now, but have yet to hit the "purchase" button.

Simply put, I don't typically make impulse purchases, but to me it seems that is all you do in a live sale!

I’m on the fence about them. They are annoying because it seems like that the only way they want to conduct their business. But I did it once and got a got a good deal

That is very true and you can't blame anyone for putting food on the table or running a business as long as it's moral which this is. However the community dictates what sells. And unfortunately as much as I dislike live sales the majority apparently doesn't mind. Just wasn't sure if I was the only one.

I agree with the OP! keeps me from purchasing from certain shops because there everyday price is to high, and I'm not playing the live/auction game.

Yes! But one of my favorite vendors,Jason Fox, is having one this Saturday. I can't resist. I'm in his area, so shipping is discounted and his stuff is the best. It's one vendor i will not dip my corals before going into my system.

Like any other sales tactic if it is done to often it becomes much less effective.
