so I want to get all my wires off the ground and into a cabinet safely for as cheap as possible.

I'm considering a cheap IKEA cabinet

Q: for electronics that have a cable too short, how do you guys extend it? Are there any specific extension cords I should use? Or just anything that works?

Any other tips for this?

I would recommend and time you use an extension cord. Wrap the connection tightly with electrical tape and put up high where salt can't creep. I have thought about using shrink tube on mine.

Good idea on electrical tape I'll do that for any cords not long enough.

I'm going to walk around IKEA tonight and see if anything stands out that will work

Please share what you find... I'm looking for a cabinet to use for all of the electronics too.

I'm using two IKEA cabinets for mine. I went with the 24*24 white cabinets, one with the frosted glass. It lets me see through just enough to see the lights on the equipment controllers.

I'll get a pic later when I get home.

Look into shrink tube instead of the electrical tape also. It isn't permanent but allot more so then electrical tape. Moister and salt will cause the tape to get loose and sticky over time. A long time but still. Either way it's better then nothing
