Hi guys I am planning to setup a 53 gallon fish only tank with about 15 lbs live rocks, 40 lbs of live sand, few damsels and two clownfish. I gonna go with sumpless as I dont have space and money for it. So what kind of filter I need for the tank? I have a eheim 2215 canister filter already from my freshwater tank but I think a lot of member will disagree with that right? Beside of filter I also planning to get a tunze 9004 intank skimmer and a hydor koralia circlation pump.

Running a canister is not a problem but keep in mind you have to keep it clean.I ran one on a 29 gallon for three years but I cleaned mine weekly.and I never had a nitrate issue.

What media did you had in the canister? Do I need a massive of bio media in it? The Eheim 2215 comes with a lot of substrate pro and also some ceramic rings.

Also you said cleaned it weekly you mean just the media or also housing of canister?
