Erkys build thread 180g

that is my tank about 2 months ago, currently dealing with some RTN that started on the chili pepper monti, it has since moved to the anacropora that was close to it, and now to another acro that is on the back of the glass. Waiting on ICP test results from ATI. I have done 2 30 gallon water changes since sending off the ISP results to try and combat the issue.

tested my tank today and nitrates were 1-2ppm, so i dosed to get that up to 4-6, Calcium was a bit high at 505, and Alk was 9.9 a little high as well. I have adjusted my doser to get both items in check, but i noticed today my green slimmer had a stalk that rtn'ed!

I am beyond annoyed with ATi on the lab results.

ICP completed and nothing shoching that could describe what is going on in my tank besides a higher than what Id like Alkalinity of 10, but with 9ppm nitrates that shouldn't be a huge issue.

Hi erky! Wow, this is a real stumper????

What did you test Alk at vs what ICP tested? Did you test a sample from the same sample you sent them?

Yeah I tested, just do not have the results in front of me. I will update tonight when I get home.

Something that I did notice is my nitrates were a bit higher than I anticipated they would be, I was assuming 4-5 ppm not the biggest deal, but something I might want to look into. These dang which shade of red/pink/purple/blue tests have really got to improve. If there was a digital on the fly readout in the tank, I think I would have to purchase that! I know the mindstream is still in beta testing but that is the only thing that comes close to what I would actually want. An alk monitor might be in the future as well.

Any new updates on this beautiful reef? I'd love to see some more pics. :D

just trying to get over this mini crash that has been going on, still not 100% sure what happened. I do know my alk was a bit high at 10.5 for a while and nitrate was pretty low, so maybe some starvation happened that caused the initial RTN. I just went on a cruise 2 weeks ago and I have been really busy with finishing my basement where the tank is at, so hopefully things start to improve here shortly.

What is funny about this is all the montiporas in the tank just took off with the acros looking like crap, I find that pretty interesting that the acros didn't like the conditions, but montis really put on some weight and color!

wheres my build thread badge ;)

Hey @erky, how is everything? Did you get the issues worked out? I'm still working on my own problems with my tank. ;Blackeye:rolleyes:

On the build thread contributor badge, be sure you did this: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/i...ure-youve-followed-this-one-easy-step.385155/ ;)

things are still blah in the tank, most acros are not looking great, I keep testing my alk and it seems pretty stable. I am going to order an alk monitor for the tank when the alkatronic gets in stock. Maybe from there we could see an improvement.

something I did find out that I thought was just crazy is my center led lights blue was at 5% where the others were at 60% not sure that has anything to do with it, but my circuit breaker popped a few times when I was working in the basement doing some framing, and maybe it reset then. I know for a fact it was at 60% before I was working down there.

Nice tank. BTW, I’m a neighbor from northern ky. I’ve been thinking about an alkatronic for down the road some day.
