Howdy all!
So I've posted a few questions about this tank, here and there, I've even done a build thread for the stand, but the tank and it's inhabitants still remain in the shadows, until today.

So I filled this tank 4/30, I'm pretty positive.
It's got fish in it right now, and a good portion of the equipment it will have in the end. I've really had a great time setting this up. It's far from complete, but I'd love to share my journey so far!

It all started, with a slow week at work. I dont like being idle, so my brother and I went to the hardware store, and got what we needed.

I had already had a 40b tank and so I built the stand to fit that size tank, but with like a beer ledge (Never been used for beer, just everything else).
I made the bottom shelf big enough for a 30" wide sump. I ended up using a 29 gallon.

I have a pretty decent glass shop in town, so I went in and ordered glass for my sump, as well as to make my own overflow box.
I siliconed up the sump, and for some lazy reason waited another week to do the overflow box. (Think I was looking for the right size diamond drills, actually)

Anyways, drill this silicone that, plumb your bean animal, find a return pump, get mad cause you didn't order dark enough glass, stick an led black box on, stick a freshwater volcano decoration in during cycle to keep you entertained

and before you know it you've changed the lights out twice and realize you're tank is a month and a half old and you STILL haven't made a thread about it!

So here she is.

I still have some things to do. I want to build a canopy that will attach to the stand, but no rush since all my lights hang. I'm using a 24" 4 bulb t5 with a par38 bulb on each side.
For circulation, I have a small maxi jet (looking at replacing it with a maxspect gyre) a small hydor and my reef octo return pump. Filtration in a dinky hob skimmer, floss and refugium.

Live stock consists of:
2- clowns
1- peppermint shrimp
1- blue tip hermit
2- green and orange hermits. (I've forgotten their common name)
1- banded trochus snail
1- turban snail
2- astrea turbos.
1- very recently fragged neon green toadstool leather.

I've fallen in love with this tank. I'll have to get a better FTS, I don't have one with both my pars, and t5's on, but I will take one later tonight and post it.

I hope you all enjoy!

Very cool. Glad you finally shared! Looks like a great job.

Thank you, I honestly should have started this sooner. I'm happy to be sharing my progress.

Cool build thread ..

It's very DIY, but rather simple so far. Nothing terribly expensive or grandiose about the equipment or inhabitants. However I like it very much. It's been an absolute blast and I look forward to seeing it every day.

Thank you guys for the kind words.

Update time.

Minus the pictures, cause I'm a few islands over right now sprinkling houses.

I went to a lfs earlier this week and got 2 fist sized balls of chaeto and some green acans.

The acans look amazing (I'll post pictures as soon as I'm home), and shortly after I got home and stared looking at the chaeto, I found it was littered with feather dusters. Score!

As promised. Here are some pics.
However, these are with just the par bulbs on.

Also I'm just taking pictures with my iPhone, I apologize for the quality.

My new acans. (Again, low quality, and not the best lighting.)

The tiniest yellow tang I've ever seen. When he gets some weight to him, he's going in the 75. He was really skinny when I got him, but fortunately he immediately started eating like it was thanksgiving!

And of course the peppermint shrimp. :)
I love this guy. He's a lot of fun

I hope you all enjoy!

A long overdue update.

Took the par bulbs out of the equation a while ago. Was noticing too much algae localized to their hotspots. Figured I'd just run the t5's instead of messing with the bulbs.
Those par 38's are now over my brothers 6 gallon nano he's started.

Also I swapped my sump out for a shorter one. When I put that reef octo 150 in there it fit, but I also needed a stand for it, and I was running out of room above the sump. So I changed it to a 20 long.

Happy reefing!

It might just be me, but I swear somethings different.

I’ve been working on this for a while.
Kinda felt like I rushed things when I first set it all up.

So I purchased an aquatic life hybrid from Matt @BoomCorals, (thanks Matt!)

Only problem is my photon v2 is an 1 1/2” too wide? Pfft. That’s dumb I’ll make room.

Okay. I didn’t do squat, I just set it on top over the brackets.

All joking aside I knew it would be close, but I’m glad it works. :)

Happy reefing!
