I have an R – 200 sump and X – 160 skimmer.

I’ve had it set up for a few weeks my question is when I turn off my return pump for feeding the water level rises in my sump and my skimmer department. If I don’t turn off my skimmer before the return pump my skimmer collection cup overflows.

Is there a way around this? Seems like my skimmer has some nasty bubbles at the top then those bubbles come back down when I turn off my skimmer.

Anyway around not tuning off my skimmer? Or does everyone turn there skimmer off when they turn the return pump off?

Thanks

Correct, before I turn off my return pump I shut the skimmer off first. With the skimmer in the same chamber as your return pump there isn't really a way around it. Unless you could rig a float switch to shutt off your skimmer when the water level reached a certain height.

Thanks crabs. So the way I think my skimmer works is the bubbles collect at the top and kinda tanks there time to make it to the collection cup. When I turn the skimmer off all those “dirty” bubbles falls back down. Is this ok then?

Yup, it'll just collect later
