hey everyone! I bought a eshoppes psk150 skimmer used from a guy and it came with a octopus 1000 pump(250gph) on it that is not working and whem plugged in gives you a nice jolt when i put my hand in the water. Now i know that this pump is not sold with the skimmer and i have had pretty crappy lucky getting in contact with eshoppes to buy a replacement pump, so i decided to sacifice a oddysea ps75 skimmer i have and make the pump from that fit the eshoppes. after runing the skimmer in 10 gallons of water for over two days the skimmer

is still not producing many bubbles in the skimmer but when i remove the pump from the skimmer body it makes tons of bubbles..does anyone have a solution for this or a suggestion for a different pump so i can start skimming like i should be?

how did you end up connecting the pump to the skimmer? Did you connect it the same way it was done with the stock pump?

yea i glued a peice from the oddysea skimmer on the pump outlet im currently using and it fit the tube that goes to the skimmer body but now thats its been running it doesnt seem to produce enough bubbles to make it into the collection cup, also im using 10 gallons of dirty water from my tank and have it running in a ten gal tank so i could get it all figured out before its time to set up my new tank

here is cell phone shot of it in the ten gal, sorry so dark its running on the floor in my basement

I'm guessing that the pump output is drastically reduced due to the backpressure from placing the elbow on it. You might try just mounting the pump output straight into the body like the way the stock pump is supposed to mount. Still, it may be that the pump is too small for the skimmer.

i think my problem was that the water i used from my water change out of my 55 was just too clean because i threw a bunch of dry rock i had in the tank with it last night and this morning it was working like it should be
