Good morning all,

So I'am looking into upgrading my 20long sump and came across the Eshopps sump mentioned. Does anyone have it? If so how do you like it pros/cons. I can't really seem to find many reviews of it on google. The only major thing I dislike is the return pump location and the water level in the return chamber. There are a few other sumps I am looking at as well.

I was really close to getting one. The facts you stated were weighing heavy in my decision also. It depends on what size tank you are using it for and how heavy of a load it will support. Do you plan on adding many things in it. Internal skimmer. Gfo reactor etc. it is kind of tight . Make sure your skimmer will fit in the compartment I wound up getting the rs200 and it's still a bit tight to add many extras. I do like it it's def quiet. If I did it again I'd go bigger to the 300 series

I am running a internal skimmer, currently the sca302, have a dual reactor for gfo and gac. Since I would have to reposition my return plumbing I was thinking of adding a manifold so I could run the gfo that way. The tank is a 40B mixed reef, main consideration for the sump is to run filter socks(the way the Eshopps is setup) and have a decent sized refugium. Also have been playing around with Google sketch up and designing my own sump.

I have the 3rd gen R-100. The fuge section is nice and the skimmer section is just right. The drawbacks i see are as follows. Detritis accumulates under the fuge box that is hard to clean. The return section is in the back and is almost impossible to see the water line without sticking my head in the cabinet to peer over and into the sump. Also, unless you have an ATO, you constantly have to top off. The total volume is maybe 10 gallons or a little more, which is fine for my 46 but, i would like a bit more. Especially in the return section, if i don't top off every day the pump will run dry. Overall i like this sump/refugium though; i would change just a few things. Im about to upgrade to a 90 and will be using either a 29 or 40 breeder as a sump.
