hey guys so I was planning on building my own overflow but I have recently discovered the eclipse. Super nic and what I was gonna do anyway. The issue here is I’ve already drilled my tank my hole is only 3/4” and I believe the medium comes with an 1.5 inch bulkhead for the tank. I know the picture isn’t much but do you think I would be able to install it without problems I would just drill out the hole larger but the placement of the hole is what I am questioning. I hate cutting acrylic dang stuff melts as you are cutting it. Super frustrated right now. Usually don’t have issues working with it but tonight........

Unfortunately your existing hole is going to put you to close to the trim to be able to mount the box. Plus drilling or redrilling a tank when it's already filled is possible, but extremely difficult. Do you have just the one hole drilled or do you have two holes, one drain and one return?

I have drilled a tank when full it is a PITA but..... yes there is another hole drilled. But I have to give some backstory first. I planned on doing a corner overflow in the beginning. Instead of drilling the bottom I drilled right above the bottom trim line well the corner overflow I built failed. I tried to use silicon on acrylic. Didn’t work out obviously.

So what I’ve done at this point for a temporary solution. Is use that lower hole for a drain. I have an intank Durso kind of. And the hole in the picture is my return. So now that you know that.

To kind of fix this issue. I was gonna cap the lower hole off and bot use run a desperate return line that had 2 outputs one in each corner and then do an overflow box where the existing return is currently.

Boy that corner overflow failing like it did really screwed everything up. I thought I had a great idea. It all came crashing down....lol.

I could already buy the eshopps and Weldon a piece of circular acrylic to fill the existing hole and then re drill it...lol

What size is the tank? And where are the holes? Like is there a 3/4 inch hole on each side of the tank? If so I say do dual returns and put the eclipse overflow in the middle :)

This I didn’t even think about!!
Yes there are 2 holes both 3/4” one is on the right side at the top the other is on the left side at the bottom.

Return on each side and overflow in the center. BOOM! The eclipse comes with a template to drill the hole, put it on the inside of the tank as close to the trim as it'll go. From experience of you put the template on the outside it puts the overflow to low and your water line will always be visible. Picture for reference. I wish I had gone up a little closer, but this puts my water line right in line with the bottom of the trim

Fantastic! Yes sir just placed the order for the overflow. I don’t know why but I would of never thought of that. Fantastic idea and it accomplishes everything I wanted to do with regards to flow. Gotta love outside perspectives! Thanks you again.

Ah that’s what I did I have dual 3/4in returns from my sump on corners and the eclipse is dead center in my tank. The thing is loud though i am gonna put a durso pipe in hopefully that will quite it down a bit

New here and late to this thread, but here I am lol.
Does anyone happen to know the distance between the eclipse holes? I bought a 125 with pre-drilled holes for an overflow box. I’m just not sure if it’ll work on my tank and I don’t want to buy one only to return it. Nothing anywhere online about dimensions for any of Eshopps overflow boxes. Thanks
