I'm currently setting up my 50 gallon reef tank and I have all of my plumbing cemented together. So far everything works as expected but I have a small slow leak coming from the overflow box on the outside of the tank. More specifically the bulkhead that is connecting the drain down to my sump.

I have applied some teflon tape to the threaded part of the bulkhead to hopefully stop the leak but to no avail.

Since all of my plumbing is already glued in I can't apply my own gasket to it which I had thought of.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this and/or has anybody fixed this themselves?

Can you get a picture of where it's coming from?

Right in between the screw on part of the bulkhead and the bottom of the external overflow box.

I would cut that pvc. Remove the bulkhead and replace the gasket. That is if you haven't tried to tighten it up. When you put it back together put some unions in.

Is there a gasket under the flange inside the box? Cannot tell. If not, that’s your issue.

It's definitely a gasket problem, there is one under the flange but it never seems to be completely centered so it's always leaking from one side.

I moved the gasket around with the small amount of room I had and the leak just moved to a different side of the bulkhead.

Is it possible to put some silicone on the inside of the overflow box to maybe block it?

I had a similar problem, I ended up removing the overflow, trying my best to keep the fitting centered and tightened it really good, took a couple times but I eventually got it to work. I would also second the unions comment.
