Air only and maybe only kills ornamental sponge. You'd need to let that liver sponge dry out before it died. I've had all kinds of ball, pineaple, liver sponges exposed to air during tank transfers, rip cleans whatever... and they remainedI tried really hard not to expose the sponge to air. We'll see if it survives the move.

I had a greyish tan sponge that sent out fingers more than balling up or encrusting. It came in on a torch and when the torch died, I pulled the skeleton out and the sponge practically disintegrated in 30 seconds. It was crazy how fast it died.White encrusting sponge. The really pretty sponge seem to die easier. Like one i had on the torch who passed as well. Sometimes, i want to just quit.
