Can anybody who owns one of these overflows please confirm if the clear U-bend should rest on the bottom of the black plastic bit which goes in the tank,?

Reason I ask is that it doesn't seem to handle much flow, and if I raise the u-bend slightly (like 5mm) flow increases drastically.

They sent me the wrong bulkheads with my overflow so I'm now wondering if they've sent the wrong u-bend also.
Basically I'm wondering if the u-bend I've been sent is too long and really it should rest on the clear bit out of the tank, rather than bottoming out on the black bit.

What model? I have the 800.
No , in mine it does not touch the bottom in either side
However in in tank weir box is adjustable in my model.
Thanks for the reply :) that's what I suspected.

I ordered the nano and definitely have the nano's body according to the dimensions. But they sent the wrong bulkhead (1inch instead of 3/4) but I also now suspect the u bend is from a bigger model too (probably the next size up I guess) .

Basically I think the person at the factory packed the pf nano body but the pf 300's accessories.

The complication is that in in the UK and had to pay high delivery costs plus import duties and wait a month for it to turn up, so I'm trying to avoid sending it back if I can simply cut the tube down or put something under it to raise it a little.

I'm also talking to eshopps directly but so far they've not helped too much (waited a month so far)

Yea. Cut or buy the new tube local. I bought a second one .. it was $9 US.

Sorry, one more for you @saltyfilmfolks - if you get a moment, could you please tell me how much of a gap there is between the end of the tube and the bottom of the black box? Doesn't need to be exact but is it like an 1/8 inch or 1 inch?

:)

I have the PF300, the tube should not be touching the bottom of the clear part on the outside or the overflow box on the inside. It will restrict flow. The black overflow box is adjustable, you can try adjusting it down as long as it doesn't make your water level in your tank to low for your liking.

Not sure there is any vertical adjustment on the nano, I think the wingnut sits in a circular hole rather than a slot if you see what I mean. Water level is at the correct height in the tank anyway.
Could you estimate how much of a gap there is on your model between the tube and the bottom?

Many thanks

When I leave work to go to lunch today I'll snap some photos and take some measurements for you :) Mine must be an older model, I have a slot that I can raise and lower the black box on the clear acrylic that hangs over the trim.

Exactly that. My inside weir , the in thank black box is adjustable. It sets the level of the water in the tank.
Mine is set to where I can fit my finger under it

Be careful cutting the u-tube, the plastic they use is brittle and can break or crack easily. Instead of cutting it you can raise the tube a little by putting something under the bend in the tube to raise it off the overflow.

I couldn't get a good picture of how far off the bottom the inside tube is, but if I was a bettin man (which I am) I'd say its a good 1/2 to 3/4" away from the bottom of the inside overflow.
