I am trying to decide which skimmer to pick from, S-120 or X-160.

The S-120 is the new premier line that is rated for 40-120 gal and the bio load capacity is 40(heavy)90(medium)120(light). Skimmer runs around $300.00

The X-160 is the mid range line that is rated for 100-225 gal and the bio load capacity is 100(heavy)170(medium)220(light). Skimmer runs around $320.00

I have a 90 gal tank with 8 fish in it, a dozen coral frags and running a 20 gal long tank with refugeium. I do not know which one would be better for my system.I am not familiar to bio loads and could use some help.

Thanks!

I would think either will work. But for the extra 20 bucks the 160 gives more room for growth, capacity. I don't think you would be over skimmed with it. If you find you are you can run it for part of the day and shut it off for a few.

Do you think the 120 would be able to handle my bio load? I don't plan on getting anymore fish in the tank or coral for a little while.
