I plan to start using ESV 2 Part and was wondering what the best schedule for dosing is? BRS says to dose the two components at least an hour apart to prevent precipitation.

Should I dose the alkalinity spread out over an hour, wait an hour, then dose the calcium spread out over an hour?

Or would it be better to spread it out through the entire day - dose alkalinity spread out over 11.5 hours, wait an hour, then dose calcium spread out over 11.5 hours?

If you’re using a dosing pump small frequent dosing through the day works great for me. I dose 21 mls of each component over seven doses through the day. The two components are dosed a few minutes apart. Each dose is pumped in over a few seconds. (I also use a calcium reactor which doses constantly).

I dose my alk in three doses, once at 8am an hour before my lights come on and twice more (2pm and 8pm). I'm thinking of moving the dose to just once slowly from 8am to 2pm. I've noticed my ph can't sustain until mid way through my photo period, at 2pm or so.

Here is how the Ph is managed with dosage starting 5 AM. The doses are about to kickoff for the first installment

Dose alk through the day if you most want to stabilize alk.

Dose alk at night if you must want to stabilize pH

Dose calcium any time and once a day is fine for it.

Hello Randy,

I have been reading and learning a bit over the last few days with 2 part dosing and RTN in my frag setup. I know you are a mastermind when it comes to the reefing hobby. I would like to see if I would be able to give you a call or something to pick your brain on a few topics. Currently dealing with RTN so wanted to see your suggest route of removal and going back to a stable environment. I am currently doing the witch hazel treatment from moonshiners and I have also ran an ICP.

Secondly. I’m in the middle of deciding on my dosing strategy. I have used Red Sea, aquaforest and BRS 2 part. Currently thinking about switching to ESV. Curious in your thoughts etc.

please let me know if you have some time available or if this is best. Thank you for your time and please feel free to message me. For some reason it wouldn’t let me chat you.

Sorry, I don't have time for individual discussions.

The ESV B-ionic is certainly a fine product.

The BRS two part when using Balling Part C is also an excellent product and no better or worse than ESV as far as I can tell.

The Red Sea and Aquaforest may also be fine products, but I know a bit less about their composition.

Totally understandable! I absolutely appreciate your feedback and insight!
