ESV B-Ionic in a 29 gallon doser/no doser

I started my first saltwater tank Oct 18. Recently my bi-weekly water changes haven’t been replenishing CA and ALK fast enough. I attribute this to the rapidly growing coralline and my heavily stocked system. I will be adding some birdsnest, stylo, and digita in a few weeks and I’m hoping to figure out dosing before then. I’ve decided on ESV 2 part, and was hoping to get some advice. Do I need to buy doser? If so, could you all recommend one that would be sufficient for this size system?

Marine depot has a calculator for dosing, ESV is one of the options. You can use that. Regarding dosing you don’t have to buy a dose pump but it does make the parameters more stable and less of a chore. I personally hand dose KH and Ca daily been doing it two years now on my 32 gallon bio cube. Also BRS has some good videos on dosing in case you have not seen them. Happy reefing!

I like a doser for vacation or days i forget, i can set reminders on my phone, send carrier pigeons to myself, order a song a gram; and still forget maintenance some days [emoji23]

I read i lot about this theme. And I was reading ur post and maybe u can make my live more easy. I have a 39 gallons reef tank. I want to increase my KH. Its on 7 and decreasing. So i bought a buffer (ESV B-Ionic Kh). Do u think 10ml its to much per day? I use a calculator and said that i have to add 37ml to increase to 8. But i known I suppose to do it little by little. Is it to much add 10ml per day? I known i can't add the 37ml just the same day!! Can stress my creatures. Help...

When I entered it on the Marine depot calculator I came up with 17ml to dose to raise your Alk by 1dKH. Looking at an old bottle I have it shows 1ml will raise 1gallon by 2.07dKH. I would check your bottle to verify. How much is your dKH dropping per day? Also how much Ca is being consumed a day?

I kill my biological filter (dummy mistake) recently. As u can imagine, a total caos. I lost 3 corals and a starfish. The problem is already (Nh, No2, No3) under control. BUT when the others parameters are ok, my Kh start dropping and the Ca too. It's just 1dkh weekly but for sure i don't want to lost control, again. So i went to my acuaman yesterday (aquarium vendor) and we test the water. He said that don't look so bad but he recommended the Ionic Kh & Ca Buffer. I just want to be pretty sure how much per day so my guys don't suffer the process.

I would dose the 17ml to get the dKH to 8. Going forward if the Alk only drops by 1dKH a week you may be able to just do weekly water changes to keep your major element parameters in check otherwise just divide 17ml by the number of days you want to dose a week. Also normally you would also want to dose Ca to keep a balance. If you want information on dosing BRS has some good videos on the subject.

Cool... Apparently i learning the hard way. Thanks for help me. And yes, i have the Ca. But i trying to figure it out how many hrs between Kh & Ca. Somebody said 1 hr when others wait 8 hrs.
