220g glass display, that gets mid-day sunlight from an adjacent window. Within the confines of the tank, there are many fish and even more spacious hideaways that offer the utmost in privacy, quiet sleeping quarters, and harassment protection. The rock provides a nice place to get away from the rigors of everyday traffic, out in front of the tank. The water glistens as it reaches the overflow, and half of the flow is directed down to the basement. The other half of overflow goes through a 55g refugium in stand. Water exiting it joins water from the tank, and goes to the basement, carried briskly, by a high-tech 1.5" PVC header behind the tank. This header goes through one wall, avoiding natural oak hardwood flooring, and into the outdated kitchen, where it goes through the floor. Waiting in the basement is a soothing 3ft sock filter. It rests in a luxurious, translucent 55g drum, which also accommodates hundreds of beautiful blue and orange bioballs, giving a fresh look of a spring garden. With such a constant flow of water, my balls always stay clean and fresh, with only the utmost in bacteria present on their many surfaces. Water from this space is used to supply a large MRC 3 skimmer, as well as supply and return for modern fixtures, such as a Nexgen Phosphate reactor and a Korallin Calcium Reactor. Also supplied water, on carefully timed intervals, by this expansive sump, are two 20gallon nursery tanks, plumbed in series, so the "little ones" stay safe and well cared for while the Mother Colonies are taking care of business. These nurseries are lit by four glistening t5 bulbs. Frag racks act as bassinets, holding each frag securely in place and protecting it from harm. The first drum spills out, with a gracious and relaxing sound of a country stream, into another spacious drum. This rum is decorated with markings, designating the full range of water change quantities. Inside this drum lies a quaint little Mag24 pump with a spring loaded check valve, to assure the utmost comfort, helping to control liquid humidity from accumulating on and in the 20yr old carpet scraps which cover the beautiful concrete floors. It is here that a JBJ auto topoff does its duty, like a toy soldier, on guard. A timer controls this guard, so as to give him rest breaks. As the float swich gets tripped, it pounces into action, triggering a 120v solenoid that is directly tied into the home's water supply. This water travels direct to a 6 stage RO/DI unit, in order to provide the display tank's inhabitants with nothing less than the best and most tasty water that money can buy, and eliminating the need for space and time consuming RO tanks. After enjoying its stay in the second sump, water is gently pushed by the Mag24 pump, up through another 1.5" PVC pipe, following the same scenic route as it did to get to its relaxing "home away from home. As it approaches its destination, it encounters many gentle waves, created by the combination of 4 Korallia Powerheads and a "budget friendly" Jaebo WP40. The living quarters are brightly lit with three 250watt metal halide bulbs, one giving the 10k brightness of the midday sun, and the other two giving a shimmering hue of 14k luminosity. The may corals are below, scantily strewn about the backdrop of a beautiful reef and white sand. Several fish, including many tangs, gobies, and wrasses enjoy this reef. It is the perfect vacation destination.
