Hello,

my torch coral has a weird brain shaped blob on it. Does anyone know what it may be? This was the first time I had ever seen it

Hard to tell in the video, have you tried to hit it with a jet of water from a baster etc? The color blends with the torch and it's hard to tell. I see what you're saying but can't distinguish it

I’ll go have a look now before the lights come on

From the vid the torch is still extended, but you can see it isn't happy... just can't see why with all the blue.
That video was after the lights had gone off, I had switched them back on to get the video. It was like 11 last night

This is it this morning, the white blob thingy

Hey ilott,
I think you’re seeing the coral’s mesenterial filaments. Skim this thread for comments I gave another member.

Hmmm, maybe stress there was a little issue with my thermometer becoming lose from the sump resulting in a serious increase in temperature, hopefully it’ll settle down soon. Do you know if there is anyway I can resolve this or will it just calm down?

If it’s stressed all you’re able to do is keep things as stable as possible. How are your water parameters? Do you know your current levels?

I checked them on wednesday and they were all in check, the tank is fairly new been set up about a month, I moved the corals from my old tank

Temp will definitely make corals do that. Its happened to me before too. Just get the temp stable if its not already and dont make any other changes till the coral stops throwing a fit. Its gonna be ok

Eliminating the chance of contaminants or toxins in the water column might be a good place to start. If you’re able to run activated carbon I would suggest doing so, otherwise just try keeping things stable
