Hi,

I started adding corals to my tanks last weekend starting with green star polyp on Saturday which kinda opened in it's first 12 hrs and then closed.

Got a little too excited as there's a manager's discount in my LFS so I grabbed a Euphyllia and Alveopora as well the next day.

I did the usual acclimation, dipping with seachem reef dip, double dipped as I don't have a QT tank, and went to the DT right away.

I watched a few more guides about keeping the frag plugs and other dipping related mistakes. And figured, I should've replaced the flag plugs and inspect in that area thoroughly so I had to pull them back and get rid of those. I also added a few minutes of fresh water dip but them I started noticing a strange smell from them. The fresh water dip seems to be a little warmer than my usual water. After clearing the plugs I rinsed and rushed them back to my tank.

I noticed that all of my fish went ahead straight to the Euphyllia like it's their food for the day.

This is how it looks like this morning (turned the light to white for better image)

What do you guys think is its current state? And is it safe to stay there as I currently have 9 fishes on my tank as well.

The frag plugs is fine and can stay if you want. I cut off the stem and glue the disc.

Did you dip in tank water plus the seachem dip? For how long?

That coral is dead. Never fresh water dip corals. That treatment is for treating fish.

BRS recommends fresh water dip for corals. It's a free option so I figured I should do it.

I didn't like the look of the frag plugs that's why and saw some stuff that needs to get rid there as well.

Tank water + seachem dip, yes, for 15 minutes, twice.

Must of been really stressed out and melted. When i get them , I temp acclimate. then I put a good dose of Coral RX in bowl of tank water and blast them at the base and stalks pretty good with a pippette. let them soak for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with clean tank water in another bowl and mount. Haven't lost any yet doing this way. couple drops of idione too.

That coral is Dead, and looking at the algae already formed on the tops of the skeleton in places, its been in a bad way, for a while. What did it look like at the LFS?

Was that supposed to be a bubble coral?

Yeah. Probably something I did after I initially added them to the tank and pulled them out again. I'm thinking it could be that the freshwater dip that I used was warm hot for them.

They both looked fine at the LFS. Been seeing them there for a couple of weeks already.

Yes it looks pretty similar to the purble bubble euphyllia in the BRS Top 10 Beginner's coral post.

All of that green attached to the septa did not show up overnight. That area of the skeleton has been exposed to light and water directly for some period of time. Long enough to grow algae on it. That means this thing has been in bad shape. At least that long.
