I picked up my first Euphyllia coral last weekend from an out of town LFS. It was sold as a small single head hammer. (but is it?)

Took it home, acclimated it, scrubbed it, dipped it in Revive, scrubbed it again and glued it into a rock, and placed it onto the sandbed.
It opened right up after being put in the tank and seems happy. Its now been in the tank a week. Now that it has opened a little more, I'm questioning whether its a hammer or not...

I'm new to corals, so i'm lost when it comes to ID'ing anything. I just have to go buy what the LFS tells me, which I often find out is not always right. haha.

Anyway, attached are a few pics. It looked like a hammer, but some of the tentacles have small nubs on them sorta like a frogspawn, so now I'm wondering....
The tentacles have a anchor/hammer shape but not overly anchor shaped like I see on a lot of hammers. But then there are the extra nubs now too. Also, not all the tentacles are the same color... some are blue, with a blue tip, some have yellow tips, some are mixed.... (splatter?)

What say the resident Euphyllia experts?!? hammer? Frog? Frammer? other?

Not that it really matters, as I like it regardless, but I've always liked knowing exactly what things are in the tank... if someone could give me an idea of the proper name for this coral, it would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the pics, but only my blues were still on last night when I decided to snap the pics. I can get some under whites tonight if necessary.

thanks!

the only way to tell between a true 'hammer' and a true 'frogspawn' is looking at the skeleton under a microscope (per a video from TidalGardens on YouTube).

Like you said, it doesn't really matter what kid it is but I, like yourself, enjoy knowing about everything in my tank. I am pretty new overall but loveeeee Euphyllia and have done a ton of research. IMO, I would say it is a hammer because it looks like the tips are a bit like a splatter hammer pattern of color, and have personally never seen a frogspawn with a color variant like that

So hammer it is. I'm glad the LFS was right for once! haha.

Yup, bicolor neon green hammer coral. I have a large colony in my tank.

Oh wow that's beautiful! now I have something to shoot for with my bicolor neon green hammer coral too!
but my little guy has a long way to go to get to that stage. I can only hope!

thanks everyone!
