It look like a very small bud it has a stock and a star shaped head any idea what I might be?The red growth could be foraminifera. is it hard? I used to have many small colonies on Fiji live rock, red and white, they have little spikes projecting out of their base.
Harmless.
As for growth/reproduction euphyllia can reproduce sexually and asexually through both budding and fission. I don’t know of any successful sexual growth in the aquarium. Fission (natural growth and splitting of the heads) is most common, however they will also appear to have tissue drop down from the base of the polyp and leave behind very small polyps from time to time which I refer to as budding. I’m sure there is a more technical term but I have not bothered to research it.
Is fission where the body splits? Because my peach frogspawn has crack or split on the stock just under the head that has some small tentacles growing out of itAs for growth/reproduction euphyllia can reproduce sexually and asexually through both budding and fission.
