have an euphyllia glabrescens here that has lost its tips of its polyps after a dip
can the tops still recover?

Yes, they are just stressed right now and may actually just be tucked in. One of my frogspawns and a hammer did the same thing when I left them in the dip a bit to long. A week later and they were both filled back out and happy.
